Hi
Is there anybody around willing to share the TAB U73 Varicom schemo???

:guinness:
Have you got it? Kubi should have it, otherwise I would have to search my copy.
Have you got a Varicom? I have one (and the U73s), but I have no information about it apart from the schematic and a wiring diagram - and I haven't found the time to play with it. What does it actually do and what was it made for?
So far it's a black box to me. I didn't find any Braunbuch documentation or something alike either.

...and gives you control over atack and release (afaik).
Kubi, on your site is no Vricom schemo. The file entitled with varicom contains the U73b schemo and alignment procedure but no Varicom schemo
It was made for nothing, it's completely useless and you can easily send the useless crap over to me...
Just kidding. It's meant to link two U73 compressors for stereo operation.
Ok, I'll put it together with all the other strange grey boxes and send the crap over. Anyway I have all this as a plugin...

Ok, serious, I know it's meant to link 2 U73s. The question is what it does - it has no controls at the front and the compressors can anyway be linked without Varicom. I guess it does some automatic attack / release times. I wonder if anyone has a real life experience with it and could explain what it does - technical function and sonic effect? What was the intention to built it? The U73s were build as 'Sendebegrenzer', the final limiter in the broadcast chain. I wonder how they work as compressors, like we might want to use a compressor nowadays in music pruduction.
Has anyone here used a U73? I haven't yet found the time to get them working, but would be really interested in how they sound... If someone knows they're great, I might have to change my priority list

The link for U73 with connection diagram for the Varicom: http://audio.kubarth.com/rundfunk/g...-E]"<F%U;F)U8V@O=&%B7U4W,T)?5D%224-/32Y01$8`

I haven't found the schematic either at kubis...

I just found a picture here http://www.purpleaudio.com/resource/TeleVxx.html
This shows, that it does have controls at the front - which means that either my memory is wrong or I have a different version.

Found another pic here: http://www.oliverarchut.com/id6.html
I guess my memory is bad

Found the schemo here: http://www.purpleaudio.com/pdflib/televaricom.pdf
A local studio in town has some U73 in use. They are most likely the best drum compressors I ever heard.
Priority list changed :thumb:
Gotta pick up my Varicom and see what it does...
So far I only have U73bts in use, which is a later transistor replacement (something like a u373 in an old style box). They are great for really hard compression. Some serious abuse, but great fun.

Michael

Thanks, Volker :thumb:
Is there any Rundfunktechnik schemo which you don´t have?

Michael, if it turns out that you don´t need your Varicom let´s talk. I´d be definitely interested.

Hello all, I realize it's been over a decade since last post in this thread (wow!), and all the links previously posted are dead now.  Just wondering if any update on Varicom options, or schematics?
