I followed someone's (can't remember who) advice and wound some magnet wire around a thin stich (popsicle stick) then passed it through the center and around the outside by hand. For a PEQ coil it took about 112 total turns.

112 turns, wow, thats low!
Good Q, better than the original.
Check the highend response to make sure it goes beyond 20k.
That was me with the popsicle trick!
What size is the ferrite, ID OD and thick?
Taps have how many turns?
Thanks!

Measurements are 1"OD, 1/2"ID 3/8"thick. Small really. I wrapped 10 turns of magnet wire around them and measured inductance with a meter to get Al. I was surpised to get about 12uH from them after measuring a much bigger one from Fairrite (one CJ recommended a while back) and got about 4uH.

Also got an E that measures 6uH.

I wound:
22mH=43 turns
50mH=65 turns
100mH=91 turns
150mH=112 turns

I didn't check the frequency response. Thanks for the suggestion.
