I build a engl preamp clone and I put a marshall speaker simulator . I have a pcb not tested yet for the se100.

the real mc tube is designed as an overdrive unity, not a preamp .
you can use the preamp that you like, you can use a power supply like the real mc tube with 2 transformers .

I've been using my G9 for ...well...er...just about everything. But one thing I DIDN'T expect to use it for is clean, warm tube direct guitar. It isn't distortion, but a beautiful fat tone...

definitely ;]

almost bought a 'needs work' jmp1 on ebay last week, thought it could be pretty handy.

I'll help anyway I can (grunt work;]

Would anyone else be inteterested in a project like this if boards were available ?
Hell yeah.

I suppose I do already have a Marshall DSL100 though...

do you want sell boards or want people to work on the project?

I don`t know if some day I will build it because I have a lot of project on my bench , but if you need help I want to work on it. still I think, a real preamp is better than a simulation.

the se100 cabinet section is similar to the jmp1 but more versatil. you can choose the mic angle.
Oh... Oops. Sorry. ... Still doesn't explain .....
sorry Darren
perhaps I should have done a longer post and said more so that people understood
my bad

A few of us here and the old place have spoken of Fred and things like the MiniBlok and the other simple tube'd toys from Fred
which are pretty cool and are fun DIY projects

I can't remember if Fred has posted here but in the distant past Fred did answer emails and frequent some of the forums.

is a huge circuit , even with the speaker simulator and outputs not stereo.

remove the digital part seems to be easy .

at first i want to gauge how much interest there is.

if there are a few more people interested, i may redesign the jmp1 a bit,, not to be a pure clone. then i will post the schemo for feedback.

then yes, maybe have some boards made. it shouldn't be too difficult of a project, and i want to design it to fit into a 1ru case.
I too would be interested

I built a version of the JMP cab sim in'99 but I seem to have mislaid the schem.... I can post the PCB & overlay, but would prefer to check it first to be sure of it. I did lend it to a buddy & it never came back, he still uses it a lot, but I would prefer to be 100% certain it's correct.

Does anyone have the JMP cct?

Regards
Peter

here is the schematic of the jmp1.

and this is an interesting post about the gi100.

I have a pcb for the se100 but is not tested yet.

this one is pulled from Mesa-Boogie MK-4 schematic and works quite well..

only "hard-to-get" part would be the coil, but it does make the sound a little more alive than most other simmulators

I did some test to the saturation speaker simulator , it simule the no linearity of the speaker, it add some compression to the sound.

the schematic is here.
http://aronnelson.com/gallery/STMs-Circuit-Ideas/Speaker_Saturation_Simulator

it is based on the tape saturation emulation from lxh2. is a good adition to a frecuency speaker emulator , but still I think it need some more.

I did some test with my preamp and the guita*rig software and I think we need a sag simulator to get a more real sound.

somebody has some idea of how implementing it?
