hi
i have an opamp that i would like to be potted. how do i go about finding places that do this kind of stuff. if you know of some places please feel free to post.

i know mouser sells potting compound.
and somewhere online I've seen those little square potting cases for sale.

unless you have a lot of them to do, you might try DIY.
(and then come back here and teach us how.) :)

Not the best article I have ever read, but what are the odds of finding a potting article in an audio magazine, so...

Plus, I can bump the 660 thread down a notch if I post.

Anyway, if you use the wrong compond, and things get warm, you can break parts due to thermal expansion, so using the right compound is the most important aspect.

Hi guys......some caulking won't work or aren't they inert materials.?, that would make a great part as a DIY potting....i know epoxy get solid as potting but from there to tell you that is gonna work?????

Might work, worried about moisture content.
But the loosness part is good.
Ask Hardy what he usues.
I think he switched to non corrosive RTV type goop.

uhgg! CJ would you happen to have a scan of the entire potting article?
Pleeeeease. :green:
it's getting interesting, but i can't read it all.

The thing to look for in RTV is that it will dry all the way through. Most of that stuff in tubes is not designed to cure in deep sections like a DOA. Check out the two part RTV designed for potting. I got some nice samples from Dow Corning.
