I am putting 2 GSSL in one 3U rack. I want to use 1 transformer and 1 power switch and feed AC to both circuit cards.

This keeps the design the same except for seperate transformer for both GSSL.

or...

Should I feed AC to only 1 card and take the DC from it to feed the other card after the rectifiers and filter caps?

Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim,

I think we've had this question several times.

Option2 would probably be the wisest. Double up reservoir capacitance to 2200uF, just in case.

Wow! That was fast!

Actually I kept the same advice you gave me before. I do have the 2200uf as well.

Its good to know that both cases will work out OK.

Thank you for your help as always.

Jim

You're asking the rectifier and regulators to do double work in that case. Wouldn't it be easier to just use a large power transformer, and send leads to each board as usual?

Why is that Jacob? Would this cause some instability? Is it because of the regulators fighting each other?

I am curious. Thanks
