Where do people buy transistor sockets for TO-92 type transistors? I know small ones used to exist, but I can't find them any more.

Thanks

You can use TO-5 sockets. Mouser carries 'em.
# 575-93103
You can also do it ghetto-style and break a DIP-8 socket in half. You'll have an extra pin, though.
Another good option is to use SIP "break-away" sockets and just break off three pins at a time. Mouser # 506-510-AG90D

Thanks, Dave. I have some of those SIP sockets and I was wondering if they'd work. I'll give it a shot.

It would be awesome to find the real thing though, with the correct footprint. I have so many of them in various old FET compressors that I would just love to replace with new ones.

The SIP sockets work perfectly. Thanks for the tip Dave.

Steve, I know that there used to be proper TO-92 sockets. I had some at one point. I looked around the internet yesterday and I cannot find a trace of them. I don't know what happened to them. Strange.
