Hi everyone,
I would like to use these telefunken (?) transformers with the G1176 Comp.

They are from a Telefunken Dolby A Model 360 Unit.

The output trafo is described in the manual. The Output Transformer "has a 1:2 step-up, providing a maximum output signal in excess of +21 dBm into 600 ohms. Resistor R2 and capacitor C3 form a high-frequency damping network, which damps the 500 kHz resonance of the transformer. This high-resonant frequency is a consequence of the extremely low leakage reactance of the transformer, which is necessary to maintain a low output impedance (approx. 20 ohms) throughout the audio passband. The transformer secondary is connected to the output connector JM3, and is free from any earth connection " (Quote Circuit desciption)

There´s no info on the Input trafo. I copied the schematics for the Dolby A Model 360.

Can anyone help and show me how to connect these trafos with the G1176 board? Here is the board overlay

ok, maybe this was too simple. I thought of the following wiring:

Output Trafo:
red --> Pin 2 (+) output XLR
yellow --> Pin 3 (-) output XLR
black --> ground
green --> 3/4 of the G1176 board (where normally the lundahl trafo sits)
brown --> 1 of the G1176 board (where normally the lundahl trafo sits)

Input Trafo
grey --> Pin 2 (+) input XLR
white --> Pin 3 (-) input XLR
pink --> no idea (5,6, or 8)
organge --> no idea (5,6 or 8)

Can anyone confirm or complete this, plz? I´ve got all my parts togehter now. Even the metal works is almost done. I would like to check the transformer question first, before I start soldering.
Cheers
Bernd

Be aware that the 1176 calls for a step down, 2:1 at the input. You could use a 600:150, but a 10k:2.4k might be better.

hi rafafredd,
would the wiring of the output trafo correct as I described it in my post? Since I have no data for the Input trafo, it seems reasonable to leave it out for the moment. Has anyone an idea what kind of Input trafo this could be?

Bernd

Hi everyone,
can anyone help me with these transformers? Can anyone confirm the wiring of the output trafo. Its the first time I deal with I/O transformers and I´m not to shure how to connect these with the G1176 board. I really aprreciate your help.
Regards
Bernd
