RFZ V781 is it the input transformer ?

I got some of this nice RFZ V781 preamps, they sound fantastic and I use them offen to glue a mix together. There was a discussion about what makes this specific V781 sound if its the transformer or not. Did anybody find that out ?

If I find the time I will check this out by using the V781 input transformer with a different preamp stage. If it is mostly the sound of the transformer, this other preamp will also have the same character.
