i can pick up either of these for cheap on clearance at a local store. id like to do a tube circuit, typical single triode to a 10:1 stepdown transformer. which would you choose--or is neither one worth the trouble?

i did read thru some of the threads in the meta (not all of them) but its still unclear to me. i found references to the 'schoeps' circuit in the mxl1006 but didnt see any comments on the quality of the capsule.

I'd choose the one with the nicest grill. I think that'd be the V67, although I'm not familiar with your other option.

Hey SC,

I have a PCB designed for those that uses a JAN5840, wired in triode, and a Cinemag 2480 10:1 xfmr. It will work with either single or dual diaphram capsules. If you have a dual in it you can have a multi pattern mic, though.

I could send you a schem and the gerber files for the board if you want

I would love the PCB layout and gerbers for the MXL V67. I've had one of these for years. While it actually sounds pretty good, I would like to add a tube circuit and a different output transformer to it. Let me know.

Thanks,
Zach

why not perf?

You are not "locked" in to certain size parts and the circuit are very simple builds.

Why not flying leads?
