Hey there,

So I finished my Federal Limiter ... thing is killer cool ... really liking it.

I was wondering if its possible to put a output pot as the last stage of this unit. In a different thread and different topic Joe (JLM) mentioned to do this on the input:

I was wondering if you could reverse it to the output. since the output transformer is 600 ohm it would go to the input of the 1K pot and the wiper to XLR?

Might work? won't work? waist of time? stupid?

This would work as is (but I wouldn't do it, until Joe convinces me otherwise), but would have a 2K load rather than a 600. A dual 500 would make more sense. You don't want to reverse it, as you'd be seriously over-loading the limiter with a low impedance when turned down. Variable dropping load impedance, in other words.

Find the thread(s) about 600 ohm variable attenuators, or buy a Daven 600 type; L or T circuit. There's plenty of previous discussion about appropriate methods. There's a NYDave design somewhere.

New to build my Federal pair.....
