Here is a nice tip I picked up and seems to work quite well so far. For external PSU's and mic psu's I have found used computer power supplies work great. Easy to put holes in, easy to gut and pretty cheap. Last one I pick up cost $5.00(us) used. It already had the IEC plug and a hole that was the right size for an XLR mount. just needed to add another XLR mount and done. Very nice and not expensive.
