Due to a step up in voltage in my DIY tube projects I'm in desperate need of custom wound mains transformers (after having used 230V "Trenntrafos" for a while).
Have tried IBR Ringler (http://www.ibr-ringler.de/) and MultiPCB (http://www.multipcb.de/ger/sites/indukt/index.html) but both didn't reply to my inquiries. Maybe they want to deal with companies only and not with ordinary people?
Any other companies in Germany or Europe people here have dealt with and that do respond to ordinary people? I also checked Sowter but I'd prefer toroids instead of classical transformers.

you could try this one. toroidal traffos...
http://www.amplimo.nl/
search for hight end audio then power transformer for valve amp...

audioforge

I tried multipcb also... they ONLY sell to companys... but I tried to order transformers through the company iam working for.. no reply.

Ask for Ursula: http://spulenwickelei-lehmann.de/
I bought my winding arm from them.

I use "Ulveco" - http://www.ulveco.dk/ - they are very good at designing power transformers with very little stray fields. And very nice people too..

try here:

TOP-PRINT at t-online dot de

just send an email with the specs you need and ask for the price.
they usually send you an answer in one day. I ordered 2 times and am waiting for the third shipment. never had problems with them.

http://www.roehrentechnik.de (no toroids) is well regarded among tube diyers in .de.
I read positive things about http://www.mueller-rondo.com/ , too
http://www.trafobaule.com/ is better at transformer winding than at web design. I had him build a custom PT which cost a bit less than an ~equivalent Hammond PT. No toroids, though.
http://www.die-wuestens.de/ does custom PTs, too (IIRC also toroids)

If you still can't find a supplier, check the forum at http://www.jogis-roehrenbude.de

 I didn't know there were so many alternatives! Add this to the meta. I'm going to need this information soon.

You can also try Carnhill, who used to make transformers for Neve. Their website doesn't indicate that they do custom transformers, but a few pro audio servicemen that I know had some trannies wound by them for the Neves that they were repairing, so try your luck.

Here is a short update on my transformer odyssey:

Ordered some EI core transformers from Trafo Baule (45,- EUR each for a 78VA trafo), got them after 3 weeks and installed them. First thing I noticed was that the voltage dropped a lot under the specified voltages when I connected the load. Next thing was that the trafos run really hot. Only with about 30% of the specified current draw temperature is okay and the voltages fit. - But to say somehting good: Mr. Baule takes them back and I'll get my money back, which is kind of nice keeping in mind that the trafos are custom wound. It seems he tried too hard to make the trafos small enough to fit into my rack case that he forgot about the heat...

Will try mueller-rondo.com next (toroids this time) and let you know. They seem to be even cheaper....

The transformer story goes on: as I wrote earlier, I had to send back my Baule trafos because they got too hot. What I ordered was 300V/0.1A & 2x24V/1A. With 44mA on the 300Volts voltage dropped to 280V and with 700mA on the 24V windings they dropped to 22.8V and the whole thing was running so hot that I couldn't touch it anymore after 3 hours of use.

And now this guy has 'my' trafos in his eBay shop, advertising them with the exact ratings I orderd and that I found out they don't have (and he more or less admitted that they are too small to give that power): http://cgi.ebay.de/Netztrafo-fuer-Roehrenverstaerker-Vorstufe-E88CC-ECC83_W0QQitemZ140038052011

So far I read only good things about this guy on the web, but this really makes me think...

Will get my custom wound toroids from Müller-Rondo next week and report back.
