WARNING: This is not about electronics...

Has anybody here built a stereo bar for AB micing with omnis? The supply of ready-made ones one could buy is really limited, a web search only turned up the AEA "Stereo Microphone Positioner" if more than the usual 17cm of length are needed.

I was thinking about building something using a metal rod that screws on the mic stand and then use mic table clambs (like these: http://www.thomann.de/de/km_237_sw.htm) to attach the mics to it.
Problem with this solution would be that clambs are not really connected with the metal bar, so there is a risk of throwing a mic down while moving it into position. The AEA seems to have clambs that slide on the bar. But how to build something like that with ready made parts?

then what you do is bolt that onto the rod. I said rod  anyway bolt that down and it will be a bit more stable IMO.
or check this webpage for ideas.

I like the 5.1 stand if only it wasn't 600+(US)

Now that would be a cool thing to DIY... :thumb:
