Just wanna contribute my findings from some time ago. I found that winding my layers heavily stacked .... about 3 deep to the ends of the bobbin, THEN putting the insulation down, gave me more wire close to the lam. My voltage was .... in some cases.... going UP with load.

When I worked out the voltage difference between the windings, the wire insulation gave me plenty of margin against arcing.

I also found that using flyback windings in the PT seemed to give me better top end in the amplifier. Less capacitance in the transformer I guess. Shoot me down on that one if you like.

As the current increased, inductance went up I guess..... as did efficiency..... I was told by an old tech that some of the good ones... maybe Hammond.... did similar. Maybe he was talking crock ..... but I don't think so. :green: He's a lot smarter than me.....
