what's the H stand for on the 2N3055H Motorola transistor? Comparing 2N3055 with 2N3055H :?: :?:

I forget what the H stands for: however mot 2n3055H are good 3055s.

Remember 3055 are often transistors that did not meet higher specs of different transistor numbers. A 3055 can have different dies and masking all they have to do is meet the min specs of the 3055. Cut some open I have, people open tubes I cut open batterys transistors etc trying to understand what the differences are.

IIRC at the old place someone did some testing and found mot 3055s to sound the best in the neve circuit.

If i was to build a neve circuit with the 3055 I would try a MJ15003 instead.

The "H" stands for Hometaxial.
It has a larger SOA (Safe Operating Area) than Epitaxial-process devices, at the cost of a lower ft (bandwidth, basically). So, in plain English, what you have is a heavier-duty 2N3055.
