Hi,

I was interested in finding out the correct methode to set the trimmer for the cathodes balance in Vari-µ compressors, such as UA 175, 176.

Thanks,

Val.

Well, in the case of the UA, the procedure is outlined in the manual. A scan of the manual is available online, but I can't find the link at the moment.

In general, the balance is adjusted for the following parameters:
Best rejection of a common-mode signal
Most symmetrical amplification of a differential-mode signal
Least "thump" and overshoot during gain reduction
