thanks,

i didn't even think to copy and paste to a text doc. color me stupid.

thanks for doing that.

Just a note... the price list above is for australian dollars.

In USD$, it's more likely around $250, parts from Mouser and Digikey, chassis from par-metal.

Here's the parts list I used for my clone... I also think ChuckD used it, with some small mods to suit his needs. I think will be helpful.

You're not stupid, and neither is Jakob, but the MS Word/Publisher he used to get that "nice layout" is VERY stupid.

Simple cut-paste ran the columns together. What a mess.

Since the logical way didn't work, I got illogical and opened the mess in a high-power text editor where I could do block moves.

thanks greg....that list is really nice.

i started a thread on the best caps to use in this beast

it looks like you ordered various caps for yours, what do you think of your choices?

I like to use Panasonics for electrolytics and tantalums... good quality, good price. I don't think you can go wrong with them.

> wondered how to fix that list!

At this point, it would be easier to go back to the original, which I bet was a long vertical list in an email.

When you formatted it for the Web, you thought the long vertical list didn't fit well on screen, and decided to lay it out as two columns, four cells per column (to keep the items aligned vertically).

But the tool you used actually made you one column with eight cells per line. See first drawing.
table-table.gif

A better way is to define a Table with two cells, then put a 4-cell/row table in each cell. See second drawing.

I admit that I have, and will again, do it the "obvious way". Probably next week when I get lists of 50-70 musicians in each of five large ensembles and have to post them ASAP. Fortunately musicians don't have part-numbers or prices so I don't have to have the neat vertical alignment, just one name per row.

err what was wrong with my parts list ?
I used Excel and just saved as a web page.
It was supposed to print even from the web .
I also have a parts stuffing page.
... or was that for the Green-Pre ?

If these things are of value I'll try to do them for other projects BUT if not I wont waste my time.

any thoughts ?

on one of the spredsheets I downloaded says created by gregory w stein it calls for 1/2 watt 1 % metal films I assumed that 1/4 watts couls be use maybe even 1/8 watts

Wil

ok so now Im confused it does need to be 1/2 watts ? or it doesn't need to be 1/2 watts

:?:

Wil

I wasn't trying to create any confusion by specifying the 1/2W. 1/4W will be fine as Gyraf said. I prefer the 1/2W simply b/c I prefer working with a little stiffer leads when soldering. They fit a little more snug into the holes so when I flip the PCB over to solder they don't wiggle as much. It's just a personal preference of mine.
