interesting. but also, with the tightly defined input/output conditions perhaps another LT chip could achieve MUCH lower output noise. I know it's possible because one of my employer's designs contains a circuit that does essentially that, but I can't share the details cos Id likely get ganked.

This was suggested further upthread, but Samuel really wanted to use this particular chip.

[IME, with modern switcher chips, building a quiet converter is mostly a matter of carefully following the data sheets and appnotes]
