dbx 166 compared to 160A

on ebay they sell the 166 sometimes pretty cheap...to me it seems like a stereo version of the 160...
how different are these models soundwise?
 
Are you talking about the 160VU, 160A, 160X, or 160XT?

I've used the 166XL, 160A, and 160XT. The 166XL is quite different than the 160A and 160XT... but in the end, I don't really care for any of the three. And I'd rather use no compression than bad compression.
 
I have the 166XL and the 160X and there are not many similarities other than the logo on the front. I like the 160X but never really found any good use for the 166XL.

Hoping this is a good spot to ask...

160a now uses new V2 vca. Anyone know what it used before? Or maybe what the previous versions used? Schematic shows some in-house number. I assume 2150, but wondered if anyone could settle my curiousity.
