When I worked for Phylarmonic back in USSR one bass guitarists liked to sing. Actually, he screamed loudly, so I used EQ to simulate Belkanto formants and compressor + reverberator to mask dynamic flaws. Listening to records, he was proud: "Listen, Anatoliy, how I did that!" :grin:
Later, I met him, and he said that I was the best audio engineer he ever met, because I could record his voice as is. Remarcably, he said, "We were on studio recording our songs, but sound engineers were bad, they could not record my voice without distortions!!!" :grin:
