A guy named Everett Carroll makes something he calls a QOP1. It is a pair of surface-mount OPA2604's on a small PCB with the pinout of a DIP TL074. A drop in replacement. Clever stuff.
I used these in the audio portions of my Alesis 3630 mods, and they sound fabulous -- much better than the other opamps I tried here. No doubt they'd be great in lots of other things too. They're not cheap (like $17/ea, though he does do quantity pricing, so it could be less if you want several or if someone wanted to do a group order), but they really do sound fabulous.
Just thought some of you might want to know this is out there. I not going to post Everett's email on a public forum, so if you're interested PM me, and I'll send it to you.
He's a nice guy too. :thumb:
