This has been the project of mine that has remained as parts in boxes for the longest time and nearly sold several timres. Finally finished the dang thing. Sounds fab!!

Here's my contribution to the errata for this project:

If you are using a standard DPDT switch for the bypass and phase functions they need to be wired like this:

P107 and P108 are voltage connections for the lamps in the original illuminating switches. Don't use them if you aren't lighting up.

The backside trim pot needs to look like this:

I don't have an original B340 so would anyone care to guess if these smaller heat sinks will work okay or should I come up with something bigger?

Hi Steve, looks fantastic!

Yes I bought the same heat sinks. I think I calculated the heat at one time and figured it would be OK. I haven't built one yet but plan to use the same heatsinks. It's such an easy solution. Crank the gain up and run a hot signal thru for a while. How hot do they get?

Your build is inspiring and looks deceptively simple and straight forward!

What's the output gain pot?

hi,

really a good job :thumb:

do you know the price for one mic/line pre + eq?

thank you

fan-f-ing-tastic!

when i see work like that, I am amazed at how much time it would take to build a 40 channel console as such.

Thanks guys. I was thinking the same thing about how much effort it would take to make these into a console. Crazy!

For cost I have no real clue. I purchased parts for this over a couple of years and stuffed everything into boxes. I'm glad now that I fit this into a 2RU case. It made filling the case a little more friendly and it allowed me to put the psu in there too as well as the output pot. Noise specs out the same as the manual states so I'm happy there. So glad it's done! Now for more fun

The output gain pot is essentially the fader. On the multiple unit jobbies you get those pots on the rack case that the preamp slides into. You can crank the gain switch and control the overall output with the pot. The pdf manual shows this on page 53. I like this a lot.

Good to know the heat sinks will likely work. Thanks!

Guitarmaker,

Where did you source the 10k pots for the freq controls?
I have had a hard time sourcing pots to work with the original knobs.

Thanks!

I searched for months trying to find long shafted 10k pots with no luck. I ended up buying them from AMS Neve. Frank's solution is the only other way I can think of that would work out. I'm sure a manufacturer would do them with some amount of minimum order but I didn't get too far down that road.

Once I did the pair of Pultecs in gray I ended up doing everything in gray. Boring but at least they all look like they belong together.

As far as search engines go, I really don't know what should be on the down low and what doesn't need to be. After all the recent EMI / Chandler B.S. I figured quiet is better. But what do I know?

Man, amazing job on this one !!! :thumb:
Kinda scary, I am not sure I have the patience to start mine
