I'm looking to generate 250- 300V for use in a tube driven bass preamp. Plate voltage will come from one of the primaries of a dual primary torroidal. This will feed a voltage doubler to generate close to 350V after filtering. Furthermore, I don't have the real estate to put in a regulated supply similar to the G9.

What would be the best way to implement this? Any one of the follow?

a) Clamp voltage with 3x 100V zeners. I'm not sure how to figure watts through a zener, but I assume 5W zeners would be sufficient.

b) Figure 6 ma of current, and put in a series resistor accordingly.

c) Voltage divider with 3.3k and 10k resistors, which will also act as my bleed off path.

d) Forget the voltage doubler and run the 12AX7's at 175V at a loss of some headroom.

Thanks in advance.
