Cool design. Perhaps one could isolate the transistors from the output and use a capacitor from the output to the base of the transistor to load the power rail - and thus creating a compensation for any bass rolloff from output capacitors, following stage input capacitors, or cable capacitance :?:
 
It's amazing how many old ideas like this EDN one get recycled all the time. But then the patent office doesn't do very well either.

The stuff that bothers me more is the recycling of old mistakes. I find these appear in these ideas-for-design columns as well, and the frustrating thing is---there's no feedback mechanism, no letters to the editor, except now, occasionally, via online postings of the material. I used to write letters anyway but AFAIK they never got to anyone but the Editor of the column---maybe to the author of the mistakes as well---but certainly not to the readership.
