I was pretty into that as well. around 1990 I made it to the state science fair with a project on DC electric motor efficiency. ever try rewinding those motors? the lowest I went was about 5 turns bifilar. I never did figure out a good way to weld the copper wire to the commutator. at 100kRPM+ even brazed-on wires would seperate. our local RC scene was pretty big for several years (over 100 people each saturday) cash prizes and no rules... 1:10 versus 1:12, gas, electric, as many batterys as you want. it was in a parking lot around the back at a biker bar!
