Forgive the noob questions again..you guys have always been mega helpful...
In some upgrade mods I am doing to my Bellari Pre it mentions replacing the ceramic shunt capacitor (27pF) with a polystyrene 26pF...the back of the stock ceramic cap says 1kv (kilivolt?). The plate runs at 250v DC and I can't locate a polystyrene cap anywhere with that rating and voltage (1kv)..any help?, alternatives? :).
I am also replacing/doubling the mylar output coupling caps with polypropolene types. On the mouser site these 250 v .47 caps are cheap while the panasonics on the Digikey site are 2.50 (US)..what is the difference? What is the best polypropolene cap to get?...
One resistor question as well..the mod mentions replacing a 10k resistor with a 2k5...I can't locate this value either..is there something I am missing?

Thanks in advance...

Ray

I have never seen a 2.5 k either. Perhaps they meant 7.5K?
Could be the 2 got turned into a 7 somehow.

You shouldn't need a 1kv poly. 250-300 volts will last forever.

There are a bazillion .47 high voltage caps, you just have to experiment.
Whats your price range?

Maybe we need a Cap Meta?
What do you guys think?
We sure get a lot of questions on caps!

I suggested a "meta" type thread for caps a long time ago too!

I say we make it more like a info base for caps with additions like:

Polypropylene:
XXX are the best brand in opinion
XXX are best model for price
properties include xxxxxx

sounds brighter/smoother than polyester but less bright than polystyrene.

info like that ought to keep the questions to a minimum!
