Magnecorder PT6-J /// Pics and info request

I dug this out of storage last week ... the guy I bought it from recommended I tear it apart for the iron - sadly it might still be working fine - makes noise, negligeable hum ...



iron: OPT is labelled RK-480 powered by a pair of 6v6's ... other's are Triad 3070 (?) and Magnecorder 6910-15 ... other tubes: 12SJ7 x2, 6SN7 x1, and 5y3 recto ...

I'm curious about iron specs and mic front end - opinions ??

Can somebody say exactly what kind of tape consoles these were used with ?!
And if there's a schematic lying around for it ...

these units were like feild recorders. totalliy portable.
i have a few of theses and a few transports as well ..
I've been using one as a guitar amp out of necessity and WOW
NOW i just LIKE EM .. haha

i have this weird problem with mine ..

if you put the volume on EXACTLY 4 .. most of the hum is cancelled out
BUT above AND below that .. there is MORE noise EITHER WAY your turn the knob ..
any idea's what would cause that? .. ???
