I have a 3v 3mm led to use for phantom power indication. The problem is that my 1K 1/4 watt resistor is getting so hot that it is desoldering itself from the led and the switch. I know this is not normal so what other value should I use?

Even a 10k resistor will be dissipating (45V^2) / 10k ohms = ~0.2W. Using an 0.25W resistor is kind of pushing your luck; if you install a 10k 1W resistor you'll be upping the reliability.

Peace,
Paul
