Looks pretty cool, and very do able. I wonder it will have enough gumption to handle aluminum....


Also he doesn't get into how it's controlled. Would anyone know anything about that?
 
I think it will handle just what he says: "Foam, plastic, wood and other soft materials". I know my mill really strains when its doing deep cuts in aluminum and it has a 1HP motor. There is a lot of vibration at the beginning of the cut as the cutter tries to drill down vertically. Aluminum is a pain to mill unless you use a cutter with four flutes and very high spindle speeds. Otherwise it just galls and the stepping motors snap the expensive cutter in half.
