Hi everone,

Just snagged a Hammond L111 from the side of the road. I don't know alot about these organs, there are a few wires that were cut coming off the tonewheel motor and I can't find the start/run switch, missing? or did they do something different here? Schematic anyone?

Also, I heard about a L122 avalable for cheap nearby, is this a tonewheel model also? I can't seem to find any info on either organ.

thanks

You can download the L-100 series service manual here:

http://dl.analoghell.com/

It's got every drawing you'd want, but it's 57 Meg, though, so use a fast connection.

And yes, the L-122 is a tonewheel model as well. In fact, it is the same organ as your L-111, but the 122 has a light walnut contemporary cabinet style, while the L-111 has a red mahogany traditional cabinet.

If you REALLY want an authentic Hammond vibe, then you'll need to add foldback to the thing (the spinet models don't have foldback like the console models). You'll need an additional donor organ (hah! that's funny, donor organ.... as opposed to organ donor  ). It's not the easiest thing in the world to do, but a little care and attention to detail... don't rush it, and you can still do it in a weekend.

Anyway, if you can snag that 122 cheap then you can use the 111 as the donor, or if you prefer the cabinet of your 111, then use its cabinet instead. Either way, between the two you can have a complete organ, with foldback, that has the authentic Hammond vibe.

Foldback mod info here:

Then you need a Leslie kit and a Leslie .........
