I know , weird topic title...... :green:

Ok, I have a stereo electronically balanced line.

Need to make it unbalanced 10 feet further to feed my mixer.
Does it make sense to keep the line balanced , just to where the signal goes into the mixer ?

thanks

Hi Andre,

The best thing to do is download a copy of this apps note from Rane:

Rane Note 110

Go to page 6, check what your connections are, and then solder up the lead from page 7.

I'd imagine you'd be needing cable 3 or 5 depending on the output you're feeding from.

Hope this helps.

Excellent reading. Thanks Mark.

Use balanced connections whenever possible.
? Transformer isolate all unbalanced connections from
balanced connections.
? Use special cable assemblies when unbalanced lines cannot
be transformer isolated.
? Any unbalanced cable must be kept under 10 feet (3 m) in
length. Lengths longer than this will amplify all the nasty
side effects of unbalanced circuitry's ground loops.

Good advice!

? When all else fails, digitize everything with fiber optics
and enter a whole new realm of problems.
