Any cool mod for the AKG Solid Tube?

Seem to remember people talking about taking the piece of foam out from next to the capsule and changing the valve.
I havent done this myself but did have to repair one that blew its PSU. Certain models/versions have a dodgy power transformer.
Something to look out for.
