I've got a Fatar/Studiologic SL-880 keyboard midi controller with a few bad keys. The odd thing is, the keys trigger the midi activity light in Sonar, they just don't trigger sounds (or record midi data). I've had this thing apart several times, cleaned the PC boards, checked all the connections, but unless I can fix some of these bad keys, I think I'm going to have to retire this thing.

Any ideas?
Any suggestions for cheap midi keyboard controllers?

Record the midi stream somehow and then look at it. Maybe the trouble keys are outputting Note-On events with zero velocity or something. A lot of (older?) "velocity" sensing keyboards used two sets of contacts per key but arranged so that one closed before the other during the key-down motion. The time between the triggers relates to how fast (hard) the key was hit. Maybe one set of contacts on your controller is misbehaving. Are the problem keys 8 half steps apart, by chance?
