The top and bottom are 3/8" aluminum with poplar between them. I was really nervous when I first plugged it in, because I ha no idea how it would sound, especially considering all the work that went into it.

Well, I was pleasantly suprised. This thing sounds awesome. It has a nice rich open tone with sustain for days! and it's dead quiet when not playing it! I couldn't be happier with it.

Seriously though...I just took an angle grinder with 120 grit paper and made random marks arranged artistically :grin:
