looking to learn something on doing front panels for the engraver.
if anyone has tips or better knows about a tutorial it would be great!

Cheers.

Well....a simple google search will find you tons. There are so many illustrator tutorials it's not funny. I have about 10 years of experience with illustrator and photoshop. Let me point out though, that drawing FP's in illustrator is a pita, even with the cadtools plugin. You'd be much better off using cad program.

The million dollar question is, "Does Illustrator output to a DXF file?" I don't think it does. Gotta have a DXF to load into your CAM software.

So wich way to go?? Jim or Bluzzi uses the same engraver shop and its needs a Ilustrator file to do the job.

Inkscape so?

Most likely, as it seems to be the same type of program. However, between the two, I'd prefer illustrator as there's much more info available online for it.
