I have been using Macs constantly since even before they came out (Apple II e), and I use 3 of them on the web every day, and the last time I have ever seen any trace of a virus was back in OS8 from infected floppy discs from a university. There haven't been any viruses against OSX, occasionally the media carries on about one, but it always turns out to be a"concept" virus rather than anything real. The US navy went to Macs because they are so difficult to attack. I have no antivirus software, it is a waste of money.
Mind you, the day will surely come...
