Note that the DAF has a variomatic transmission which goes as fast in reverse as it does going forward...

 Is it a coincidence that the DAF was designed in Holland?

There used to be a DAF specialist around the corner from me. Sadly, he disappeared a few years back, but I've always had a soft spot for a DAF.

I cadged the link from another forum btw. They were debating whether the DAF could beat some of the specially prepared BMWs that could do 80mph in reverse! Apparently, the series started to get dangerous with the advent of the beemers and the end was nigh.

Give me a bunch of nutters racing DAF variomatics backwards than Alonso and Hamilton anyday!

BTW - I assume you've seen the various CVT transmission systems that were banned in F1? Williams had one IIRC, and there've been a few other manufacturers. As with anything cool in F1 (turbos, ground effect, Lotus 88) it got banned.

Anyone got any good Max Mosley jokes?

Ahh, 'Dutch culture': André van Duin & the various weird TROS summerTV-programs

Everybody in the Netherlands more or less living around that time will have seen these, thanks for posting :thumb:

The Swedish Chef is on commentary duties :)
It's Dik Voormekaar, the alter-ego of sa(i)d André van Duin, the guy with the orange hair - but indeed, sounds not unlike the Chef !

WHat's up with the psychedelic freak-out around 22:10!
DAMN!
Not that I'm against it...I just didn't expect it.

I'm from the Midwest and the 1st thing that popped into my head was the Swedish Chef so I don't think it's just a Canadian thing though that being said most things in my life lead back to the Muppets in some way.
yeah, but that's how it is with languages you're unfamiliar with...
A while ago I was standing in an elevator with a colleague. He's from Iran,
so when he talks Farsi with relatives, we Dutch don't understand #&%* of it.

Then two talking Russians entered the elevator, upon which my colleague said to me: sounds like random noise to me!  Now I ask you...
