Hi everybody!

I need some advice...
I'm currently recording some accoustic material at home mainly with my G7, the G9 into my AD converter and I experienced a somehow increased noise floor (mainly white noise). I thought it might be the G9 that offers more gain on full as my previously used focusrite but I also thought about something else:

My AD is configured to accept +4 dBu levels plus some 12dB headroom so it should give around +16dBu at 100% full scale.
Is this too much?
Might I get more noise because I have to turn up the G9 higher to reach this level?
What input sensitivity do commercial converters have?

I sometimes read about switches that change the sensitivity from -10bB to +4dBu but does that mean that the converters reach 100% FS at +4dBu?

Thanks for your help!
Regards,
Stefan

hi stefan,

-10db is consumer level - cd players etc. +4 is studio standard, +16dbu often the max level for lots of ad converters. nothing unusual there.
