How many units do you want to rack?
Do you want 1U or 2U?

for the case, Modushop in Italy.
For the front pannel you need to do a cut-out, the front pannel will be just a Frame then for the Einstein front pannel.
Talk to Frank Rollen or Schaeffer to order a custom one

Hi Whoops,
Do you remember which balancer board you used for the outputs ?
And I'm looking for a simple preamp for the tape return. An advice ?
Thx

Yes, I think I already told you previously, I've used the SSL9K balancing pcb it had 2 channels on the pcb.
The boards were from Gustav now PCBGrinder.

Ask him for those boards or ask in the black market you will not have many problems in finding those

Don't know if it's simple enough for you or not but I've used the SSL 9K preamp which is a great sounding preamp, much better than the Amek Einstein one.
I would definitely use a transformerless preamp for this

Hi Whoops,
Here is my Rack.
All seems to be OK, It works, but I have a buzz on all outputs.
Any idea ?
Thx
Didier

How can I send you the sound ?
Thx

Didier

you can post on youtube, or send me an email , it's better a link here in the thread so other people can have a listen.
I normally post noises with a video on youtube.

Maybe this link ?

Ok,
I listened to the buzz,
pretty nasty.

1) Unscrew the Toroid transformer and try to move it around, and bring it out of the case (if cable lenght permits) while listening for the buzz. Does the buzz change with the distance of Toroid to PCB's?

2) do a drawing (it can be made in Paint) of how you connected all the grounds. So a drawing of the grounding layout and connections. That way I can check it out

I tried to move the toroid outside, same thing !

I don't really have grounding layout.

I just connected all the grounds at their points.
I think it's the problem, but I don't know how to do a proper grounding layout.

there's some examples in this thread:

Hi Whoops,
here is a schema with all the connexions.
Ground links and 0v are in red.
as you can see, only the IEC is linked to the chassis...
Maybe the toroid is underesized ?
Thx

Didier

There should be a connection between PSU 0V and Chassis though a 10R resistor and 0,1uf cap.
something like this:

index.php

Try it out, you can easily try it with aligator clips.

What is the "Symetrizer stereo module"?

The toroid is a Talema TRT30218 : 2x18v 30VA
https://www.banzaimusic.com/Talema-TRT30218.html
the symetrizer module is this one :
https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/preamp-module/module-unbalanced-to-balanced-symetrizer-ne5532-btl-stereo-p-12296.html

I try the cap and resistor between the PSU 0v and the chassis
do I need to link one the XLR ground ?

Thx

Didier
