Does anyone know what happened to the assets of OPT corporation (the last incarnation of UTC, the maker of highly regarded audio transformers)? In particular, I'm wondering what happened to the winding equipment.

they were absorbed by another transformer company, but I can't recall who. I believe everything is special order at high minimums and prices, as it was with the OPT stuff. I've only ever seen one OPT branded UTC to date; a pair of A-10's with 1990 date codes.

if you contact them, they will admit they have "some" of the UTC docs, but unless you're ready to drop some serious coin, they are not going to be interested in making any "of that old stuff" as they call it.
