Hi  ,

Well ,I'm on the Jfet Hamptone module, and i've build some for testing. Now,I've try 2sk170bl instead of 2n5457 that's works fine.I want to try some like J201 .But is there an another JFet transistor which could do a great job and one which can be easy to find too

Well,Thanks for all idea to come

Best regards,Bruno. :thumb:

Read up on FETS. Lots to know. Good stuff can be found on the web

Id has to lower than IDSS Look up the j201 specs

Also look up the voltage ratings.

Hi,

Thanks for thoses informations, nice! I'm going to try with BF245A :thumb: and yes i've found very interesting paper about jFet like Mr Borberly (nice paper, and F.Forssel too)

Just now test and listen!

Best regards,and Thanks all. :thumb:

The Hamptone is a specific use and may well be setup in a good way
( I don't know the circuit ) but remember that Jfets can vary a LOT even the
same batch and same manufacturer !!
I think at the AMZ site there's a Jfet matcher which you can build with just
a handful of components and a TL071.
Well worth having if you're going to try Jfets in various things.
As Gus would agree I'm sure, trying to bias to half V using mostly a Drain
trimpot - with these gain variations is NOT recommended, source resistor
adjustment and proper setup is recommended.

Indeed, 'JFET-testers' have been brought up here a few times... the Geofex-matcher, IIR(I)C PRR drew one etc.

Bye,
