I have been thinking about such a design as well, Animatic.

I could be wrong, but in my head I had envisioned a interstage transformer between the tube preamp and the eq section.

The other solution that presents itself is to just not use as many gain stages in the tube section. Maybe even only a half of a 12AU7. But, that may not be optimal for noise, I really don't know.

Inter stage trans; interesting idea.
Maybe step down to make the IC have an easier time.

I'd been thinking EQ goes after the coupling cap,
so a small AC voltage to deal with.

I am looking for not much more than 3-6db gain or cut
in a 1/2 - 2 octave band in the mids.
Over all gain about unity except for the small band boost,
nothing too radical.

BUT it is to be TWO output amps one SE, one PP,
in parallel from a single source, AFTER that sources TMB
two speakers side by side, and you can blend both outputs
or pick either with a foot pan pedal. Since the TMB is lossy,
it would generally lower the levels at that point so an easier interface.

Unfortunately I don't have a decent schematic design app
that works on my current main system and and the PC is down,
so I haven't done a schematic I am happy with.
I can read jSchem, but it writes unreadable files...
