I would love any help you guys can come up with.

I have an input from one of these in a box, & schematics somewhere, they are posted online, too. Seems like it could make a cool sounding pre amp, I'm not too shure about ressurecting the transport.....

I have had one before, but never seen any specific info. Fairly common bottom-grade radio station stuff. Frequently seen in a fold-up suitcase for remote work. People seem to like the electronics.

Thank you niels! :thumb: :sam: :guinness:

The transport does look a bit hammered but I
am not looking to transverce oxide across the
heads with this guy but I would like to get the
electronics up and working.

(maybe I will get a nice Phat Tube sound out of it!! lol) :green:

I'll post some more pics when I get this thing apart.

Thanks for the comments.

I got a hour the other day to pull this thing apart.

A few quick thoughts:

Forget the transport!!!!!! Its a mess.

All the XLRs are sexed backwards

All the schematics on the internet show 6sn7 valves
This guy has 2- 12ax7 and 1- 12au7 valves

This guy has a built in 3 x1 mixer.  The mic inputs
go straight to 3 Shallcross ladder attenuators and the
3 attenuator outputs are all tied together before hitting
the input transformer about as basic a mix buss as there is!

The PSU and monitor speaker are in a separate box connected
together by a cable with Cinch Jones connectors.

All the valves are missing and it looks like I will have to backwards
engeneer the schematic...sounds like a good backburner winter
project....Wish me luck :thumb:

backwards xlrs; are joy of this era.

Ditch the unbalanced mic level mix bus. Unless you really like mixing multiple mics in mono at mic level. Just some more noise and loss. Matching (rather than bridging) input Z, and for 50 ohm mics anyway. Lose it and re-tap the input transformer for regular mono balanced in.

The bottom part of the transport looks like a home made adaptation of the larger reel adapter kits; or totally homebrew. The PSU/speaker part is usually part of a snap apart suitcase clamshell, with electronics being the other half and transport separate.

here's the case type it came in; maybe you want this:
