Now that's cool!

The first video happened so fast I never knew that it was already done till I watched it again. I like the way he casuallypasses the hookup wires through the passing wire like he's a pro or something.
Are they winding the primary & secondary winding simultaneously ???
Yes, it is the same piece (or pieces) of wire.

The leads the winder left sticking out at the beginning are the primaries, then he winds the transformer, and the ends of the wire are the secondaries.

So looking again he winds first the primary, then pulls the 2 tails out, one of which is the end of the primary, the other being the start of the secondary.

I'd like to get a closer look at the hoop to see how it threds the wire so that the correct tension is maintained. It must have some kind of slip clutch. I'm wondering how diffcult it would be to make one.

I still have a coil winder here that my uncle made out of Meccano years ago. I never disassembled it when he gave me his Meccano set when I was a child.

Not on this video but that is also possible. The ones I have here have two parallel secondaries that are wound at the same time. The reason obviously is that it would be much easier to wire two thinner gauge wire then one single thick wire.

we need a popcorn emoticon. that was awesome!

I have never felt more like a nerd than now. Everyone show these videos to your significant others and look at their faces! BTW dont do this, they will love you just a little bit less.
