312 Optimal Voltage

Everyone says between 15-18v, but I would assume a higher voltage would be a strain on some components like the opamp, while a lower voltage would give you less headroom or less push in the sound. So what is truly the optimal voltage to set your PSU at for a 312?

We run both our API desks at 16.6 Volts at the PSU. Which gives about 16 Volts at the 2520s. The maximum supply for a 2520 is 20 Volts.
 
If you are using a JLM 99V you can go furhter than that....but yeah 2520 cant last longly more that 16V....i heard someone burnt his on +/- 18V.
