CHRISTMASS DIY PROJECT
« on: November 30, 2008, 05:41:03 PM »
Hi people!

I have all three projects on same stage: tested, fix some traces and order PCB's.
BOM, support, etc. like on 33609 or Sontecs.
As normal Russian guy, I LUV Christmass...than, it should be something good for this reason!

There's some factors, as fun, crazy, use and price.
Options are:

-PGA2500 based preamp- Wiregain-DC, digitally controlled, VERY clean, etc...:
http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=30506.0
http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=2148
One complete pre estimated parts cost (w/o power supply and box): ~$90-120

-2254c-2254 soundpath, compressor's sidechain from 33609, sidechain switchable HPF:
http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=29977.0
See 33609 tread as well:
http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=26218
One channel's estimated parts cost (w/o power supply and box): ~$350-400 (depends on trunny's)

-Controll room module-relay based, uP-controlled, balanced, passive,
4 inputs/2 SPK outs + sub, TRIM offsets on every in/out, 64 steps of 1 dB (actually, 63 and CUt),
talkback/dim/mono....
A simplified version of my mastering console's monitor section...
It has 2 separated boxes, controll and audio, connected with VGA cable (up to 15m).
Some info here:

Controller's front pannel layout:

Complete unit estimated parts cost (w/o power supply and box): ~$350-430

Winner will be offered as Christmass DIY Project in my sticky:
http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=29771
and, if there will be enough people, as allways, we will design and offer cases with Purusha.

Please write here your wishes, oppinions and preferences.

Igor, nice offer.
voted for the controll room module.
Im pretty fine with my setup (meaning I don't know if I buy one),
but I think a solution like this is missing here.
for ~$350-430 ;D ;D ;D

No doubt the control room. A project like this high quality is necessary in the community how the need to eat! But also I find extremely attractive project PGA2500 by its functionality and low cost.

CTRL room, but I really want to build a 5.1 version! Only one 5.1 input would be enough.

Thanks Igor!

Voted Control Room... I just like going with he flow and voting whatever everyone else wants, LOL. No seriously, I think it is something missing from the DIY options and much needed in todays 'consoleless' studio environments.

Cheers
