We covered all this in my history of audio class, but this is enriched with some technical info and a pleasantly snarky writing style. I stumbled across it researching the history of LEDs for a paper.

skipwave - That's a cool paper. You mentioned writing about LED history. Have you visited the LED museum?

The site uses frames and is a visual mess. There isn't a direct URL but he has examples of LEDS going back to the 60s. You have to dog to find it.

Brilliant stuff.

Reading that,  the rivalry between DeForest and Armstrong would make a great hollywood movie!

Brian, are you enrolled at Columbia?

Yep. Sure am. Took "History of Audio" with Professor Ted Uzzle. What a great character that guy is.

Want me to say "hi" to anyone?  ;D

is howard still teaching? dominic? benj?
ted was just coming in my final year; he seemed very sharp and professional.
i used to run the model shop for a  few semesters--they have a nice array of tools for diy, it was sort of open to all students, but that may have changed

Yes, they're all still there. Interesting cast of teachers. Great program, really. They are trying to keep up with the changes in the industry, but no one can prepare the kids for the chaos out there.

I'll have to see if I have access to the model lab, that would be useful.
