newbie fuse replacement question.

Hi folks,

Just curious: My modular pre thing calls for a 1 amp/ 250v fuse. Radio Shack (probably all I can find today), features a 500 mA/ 250v. My ps is +/-27v, and "conservatively" rated for 600 mA, with an added 100mA for the 48v. Will a 500mA fuse immediately blow?

Sorry...I know this is a silly question...

A 500mA fuse won't do. Sorry...

Check your local Home Despot. They carry fuses as well.

Thanks so much. When a power supply is rated for (in this case) 600 mA, does it mean that much current is always running through it?

No, that rating is the maximum current it can supply safely to whatever circuit it's powering.
