I started this after contacting the Uwe Beis designer of this (and maybe only one DIY ADC kit). Unfortunately he can't offer any kit because some of the crucial parts are not available in small quantities. I decided to start this (with Uwe's approval) .
So, let's see how many people want to fly in something like this.  ;D

Is something like this even worthwhile?
I feel like I was standing in the dark, when I clicked the link.

Is there any sound comparisons available?
as such i'd like to hear them at the least compared against the 192s i/o [digi]
apogee? mytek? benchmark? lavry?

Sorry I'm just attempting to participate with your thread, and I'd happen to be reading tonight about upgrading Converters as a matter of fact.

aww, i can not wait to get back to focusing on making music.
In the name of and the desire to make music I've put my mind up to the challenge of having to learn various other things ....  :D  ;D

Sorry, no samples... I'm waiting for one forum member to do that compared to upgraded digi 003. cs5361? yes but that's just a chip... It can sound different from other cs5361 units because of analog stage, PSU, clock...

Great, but we need a lot of people... otherwise , just the few of us, we can just be added to the waiting list.  BTW, I asked mr Beis for just a PCB's. It's possible but again, we have to be organized as group  :-\. Anyway, feeler is here  ;D

I'm definitely interested in upgrading from my Digi 002 convertors without spending $2000, but it would be nice to see how they compared with the Apogees that I want so bad...  ;D

I'm waiting for the Davo, forum member to do some compare test, AD24QS  against his upgraded digi002. He promised that he will do that soon  ;D

I bet if one of the clever folks here developed a 002 "mod" that involved ripping everything out but the part that authenticates and communicates with PT, strapped these converters to it and increased the I/O to 24, people would be lined up around the block for these kits...

what price range are we all looking at for one of these? would he be willing to do pcb's and the pre-programmed GAL chips? the rest of the components can be had on mouser or digikey, I believe.

maybe.

more info, please!

No probs , but what kind of info you need? All tehnical info is on the Beis site, prices also. I still wait for the audio samples. Yes, most of the parts are available through Mouser :)

He,he, and posibly to include everything for 200 bucks ;). Yes, I agree but that kit will cost . So that will be in the PT HD ;)

Guys, thanks to Dave (Davo) audio compare samples are here. Original is midi bounce under PT, digi is digi002 DAC 1-2 out to digi002 ADC 5-6 and Beis is Digi's 1-2 to  AD24QS , than digitally recorded back to PT. All files are 88.2khz/24bit so they are large around 20.3MB. Sit back , relax and listen the samples. I can hear the difference everywhere I try , on cheap PC speakers, in my car, or in my studio , but I will keep my opinion for myself ;) Cheers,,,
And yes, digi002 is upgraded version, I'm not sure how much it costs, but not under 500$.

Sorry, you are not retarded. Mr Uwe  removed the price because kit is unavailable right now.  But, you can see the price for pre+ADC... ADC price is lower  ;) Also, I think that kit's will remain unavailable until we organize in decent group buy....

Hi Moby,

do not really know much about  A/D OR D/A  but if this unit is as good as the that Lavry  stuff i am up for it

regards
