Telefunken sounds hard to me, since there is a T and a F.
EMI sounds very soft.
I mean pronouncing their names ;D ;D ;D

sorry, umm i actually was refering to the 72 and the 47 respectively. [although the 47 wasn't actually an said product].
as far as gearslutz ive searched upon there already didnt find much help.

I think you'd be better served to read about the differences in Recording The Beatles. Going by memory, I thought Ken Townsend briefly discussed the difference between the two in the section on consoles and their amplifiers...
